What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing and good health. It is a safe and natural method of supporting physical, mental and emotional wellbeing; it has been effective in helping virtually every known illness, although many clients also choose to have a reiki treatment to simply relax, rejuvenate and take time out for themselves from the hustle, bustle and stress from modern lives.

What to expect:

A typical reiki treatment lasts approximately 40 minutes, does not require the removal of clothes and can be received lying down or in a sitting position. The reiki practitioner slowly scans the body with his/her hands and focuses on areas that indicate the need for healing.

Some clients report feeling different sensations whilst the treatment is taking place from heat to ‘a movement of energy’; others have simply described a ‘blissful’ feeling of relaxation and well-being…

Whilst the word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei which means ‘Higher Power’ and Ki which is ‘life force energy’ and so spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, you do not have to believe in anything to enjoy and benefit from the treatment.

I trained in Reiki, finally becoming a Reiki Master practitioner after experiencing reiki for myself; I was offered a treatment for symptoms of stress including tension in my shoulders and stomach pain; the relief I experienced was wonderful and I never looked back…
