Pregnancy Massage

Massage during pregnancy can have enormous benefits not only to you but also your unborn baby. It can support you both emotionally and physiologically during a time when your body is undergoing immense changes and can help prepare your body for birth.

This is a time of great excitement and joy for you as an expectant mother but it can also be a very stressful and massage can help to reduce these stress levels.

If you receive regular massages whilst pregnant it can make you more aware of you body and will enable you to relax during the 1st stage of labour, which could lead to a shorter, easier birth, less pain and a lower rate of postnatal complications. It could also lead onto increased breast-feeding success.

The Treatment

There will be an initial consultation taking about 10-15 minutes.

The massage will take place with you lying on your side supported by pillows. The movements will vary depending on your needs and may develop as your needs change. You will then change sides and the treatment ends with a relaxing face and head massage.

At no point will you be lying on your baby (tummy!)

The treatment will be discussed and some aftercare advice will be given.

PLEASE NOTE: As a qualified pregnancy massage therapist I would appreciate that you discuss your wish to have Pregnancy massage with your Health Practitioner or Midwife dealing with your care.
Please feel free to give them my contact number if they would like to discuss the treatment with me.
Maternity Reflexology

You are starting on a new and exciting phase of your life. Having a baby, whether or not it is your first pregnancy, will bring you plenty of wonderful experiences and new challenges. Maternity Reflexology can support you throughout pregnancy and promote general wellbeing.
It aims to improve your physical and emotional health by working on specific reflex points. A maternity reflexology session will also give you time away from your busy life and enable you to focus on yourself on your growing baby.

Your body will be going through a huge amount of changes and these will affect your emotional, hormonal and physical balance in your body. Maternity reflexology can assist in alleviating or even preventing symptoms from these imbalances arising.

There has been some research that shows that regular Maternity Reflexology treatments during pregnancy can shorten the duration of labour and many women requiring less pain relief.(1) It also aids in regulating sleep (2)
