What is Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy uses the power of hypnosis to help people make significant changes in their lives, relatively quickly. Today it is considered the most effective psychotherapeutic tool available for breaking negative states such as depression and anxiety.

Hypnosis, or ‘trance’ is completely natural. You go into a trance many times a day -whenever you are aware of your surroundings but your mind wanders into a ‘day dream’ (for example while watching TV, exercising, or driving your car. These times are essential for us, as they help our mind process the things that are happening in our daily lives.

During a hypnotherapy session a trance is induced through simple relaxation and visualisation, (as used in yoga or meditation). While in a trance you are fully in control and safe. In the trance state, your anxiety levels are reduced and you have access to your subconscious mind.  You will be guided through this process and you will be able to resolve issues that are beyond the capacity of your conscious mind.

‘Solution Focused’ means focusing on who you want to be, rather than dwelling on the past. No therapy is successful at changing the past. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is based on the most up to date findings of neuroscience, and incorporates the clinically proven aspects of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Not all Hypnotherapist use the most up to date techniques so it’s well worth checking their training.

 How many sessions will I need?
